Fear of not-being.

Why does one fear not-being? Because one doesn't know it? If one was not, which means if he actually dropped all preferences and attachments and was not anything, obviously there would be no fear.

The I is the fear.

To be nothing.. the greatest fear of the me.

But do I try what being nothing is?

To say anything about nothing, one has to go beyond the words and fully be it, not just settle for words. The words and the thoughts are the fear.
