THE FREEDOM AND THE PURSUIT OF PLEASURE

The futility of the horizontal life in time must be thoroughly understood. The horizontal life with it's goals, pursuits of experience and pleasure, becoming, effort, direction. choice, control, the horizontal conflict (subject and object, "what is" and "what should be"), the self, must be completely abandoned, let go, suspended.

The space that is the freedom from the false movement and waste of energy is the vertical life, UP, yoga, dhjana, zen or whatever way you want to call it. In other words, the vertical life, UP starts itself, it's not that "I start it", that it's my decision. Where there is the self, the experiencer, freedom, the real unitary universal unlimited movement is not.

The self, the false movement, trying to flip the script and reach the real movement and call it "UP", yoga, or Zen is like polishing a piece of stone to make a mirror out out it, it's a subtle but monumental mistake, it can never happen.

The self trying "UP", "nirvana", "enlightenment", means pursuing an idol, an ultimate prize, which is still in the domain of pleasure and experience, so still the self/the horizontal conflict, so not the real movement.
